Our company is a chemical enterprise. The power source for production is steam. The device is new now; previously, the purging was done using factory air. There is a lot of rust inside the pipe now. Switch to steam purging. I’m personally more concerned about the water hammer effect of steam. The steam pipeline is 300. Once it occurs, its consequences are severe. The damage to the entire pipe gallery will be severe. Let’s discuss alternatives to: 1. Opening the end of the pipe for evacuation while steam is being supplied. 2. Warm the tube slowly in small amounts. Is there any better way?
Steam purging is carried out at a certain pressure and flow rate, so the steam hammer phenomenon does not occur; these pressure and flow rates should be determined by the designers, with the purging pressure generally not exceeding 75% of the pipeline’s operating pressure.
Precautions during purging: 1. Introduce steam slowly, being careful to remove water gradually along the way; ⒉After steam is supplied to the end of the pipeline, slowly open the drain valve gradually; first drain the water, and after that, perform purging ; ⒊Warm the pipe slowly.
As long as you release the water, water hammer will not occur; mild water hammer does not cause any problems. Just open the outlet at the end first and that will be fine; you just need to release an appropriate amount of water from the lowest point in the middle.
