The role of acrylic acid in pressure-sensitive adhesives

As we all know, acrylic acid in pressure-sensitive adhesives provides the -COOH functional group and acts as a functional monomer. Does it have any other functions? What if I only add the -OH-functional monomer? Thank you
I usually use ready-made acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesives; I’m not really sure how to manufacture them
Increase bond strength. Of course, it’s also fine if you only have OH.
A small amount of acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive, less than 4% acrylic, can improve adhesion strength.
