Does anyone have experience with variable frequency operation of slurry pumps?
It seems that there’s no need for any special operational experience in this regard. Before starting the machine, we should have a professional in instrumentation check the frequency converter to ensure it’s working properly. After that, we can proceed with the standard operating procedures. The frequency converter has experienced several failures, which have caused the gasification furnace to shut down; There is also the issue of the inverter speed not matching the DCS speed
Frequency conversion changes the speed. If it is the speed of the slurry pump at the mill outlet, and this speed is linked to the liquid level, it is possible to determine whether there is slurry leakage from the mill. If it is the speed of the large slurry pump, then it is related to the outlet flow rate, which in turn affects the conditions that trigger a shutdown of the gasifier
To operate an inverter-driven motor, once it is confirmed that the inverter is functioning properly, a signal can be sent either from the inverter cabinet or from the main control unit. Initially, the motor should be operated at 20% capacity; generally, it will not start if the load is below 20%. Then, the speed can be increased gradually, and it is possible to determine whether the frequency adjustment is working properly by checking the current levels.
