Whether a motor needs to be explosion-proof has no direct relation to the fire hazard classification of the equipment; it’s not true that equipment in Class A must be explosion-proof while equipment in Class C does not need to be so. Then what determines whether explosion protection is necessary? The simplest way to determine this is to check whether the materials involved have an explosive limit – if they do, then explosion protection is required; otherwise, it is generally not necessary.

I have a different opinion. Generally speaking, materials of Category A and B require explosion protection measures. For Category C liquids, if the operating temperature exceeds their flash point, explosion protection is also necessary; other Category C materials usually do not require such measures. You can find that many Category C materials do have explosion limits, but if you calculate based on their saturated vapor pressure, it is impossible for them to reach those explosion limits at room temperature. In such cases, according to explosion protection standards, there is no need to consider the risk of explosion. This is just my personal opinion for reference only!

Whether to use an explosion-proof motor depends on whether the area is designated as an explosion-proof zone. And when dividing anti-riot zones, it is necessary to take into account the properties of the medium. It involves Class C media.
