I often hear people complaining: I’m paid so little; why should I work overtime? Why do I have to do this kind of work? I do only as much work as I’m paid for – for whom exactly are you working? Let’s discuss this together!
This is a great topic to discuss – why are you working for whom? In a broader sense, you are working for society as a whole, working to make the country prosperous, beautiful, stable, and harmonious ； On a smaller scale, you are working for yourself. In fact, you are working for yourself, for survival, for aspirations, to achieve the goals of life – that is what you are doing. Only by working can you receive appropriate payment for your labor, and with that money you can do things you want to do. I’m working for myself; I haven’t yet contributed to society or practiced any of those so-called noble virtues. After all, the more money you have, the more you can contribute to society (except when it comes to robbing banks).
