I would like to ask those among you who run companies with power plants: what is the typical investment required to build a power plant for a 600,000-ton coking plant? How long will it take to recoup the costs?
Currently, the application of gas power generation technology mainly takes three forms: the first is generating electricity using gas steam turbines; the second is using gas turbine generators; the third is using gas internal combustion engine generators. Different methods of power generation require different levels of investment
We are dealing with waste heat power generation of 2*6000KW, with a total budget of around 70 million yuan
Gas turbines combined with waste heat steam turbines can achieve higher efficiency; for 600,000 tons of coking capacity, 25,000 generator sets can be installed, with an investment of around 100 million yuan. Last edited by zjsmh on 2009-3-21 at 14:57.]
It is still recommended to use gas turbine generator sets for power generation, as they produce relatively little noise, almost none at all; If a gas internal combustion engine generator set is used to generate electricity, it produces a lot of noise. Our factory generates electricity using gas internal combustion engine generators, which are very noisy.
If a gas steam turbine is chosen, 600,000 tons of coking capacity can be supported by two units of 12,000 KW each; if it is only needed for internal use and operating in an isolated system, 6,000 KW is sufficient. The investment for 6,000 KW capacity is 20 million yuan, and we put it into operation last year.
The cost of building a power plant isn’t high, but nowadays, it generally takes over 1 million to get a thermal power plant up and running~~~
Ours is 6000kw, with an investment of 50 million.
The amount of excess gas generated by the coking plant should be taken into consideration; the scale of the power plant to be installed should be determined based on the calorific value of that gas
We also use gas internal combustion engines; workers in the coke oven workshop receive compensation for working in high temperatures, and they should get that compensation too. It’s really too noisy. Even though I generate the electricity myself, the power supply company still charges 0.1 yuan per kilowatt hour – it’s really unreasonable.
Which manufacturer’s generator set do the moderators use? Please give some details – how is its performance?
The 5# ryn 12v190 generator set, purchased in 2003 by Shangsheng Dong, is still working well to this day. Only 0.02 yuan per kilowatt-hour is charged

I remember having written before that a coking plant in Shijiazhuang was upgraded to use gas turbines along with waste heat boilers; the investment was around 2,000 watts, and the investment was recouped in about 2 years. Since electricity no longer needed to be purchased after the upgrade, the investment was recovered within those two years.
It’s a post from 2009; 11 years have passed – how is the power plant performing now? I wonder if the condenser vacuum pumping system requires energy-saving upgrades? It saves coal and electricity, reduces energy consumption, lowers operating costs, and increases power generation. Real energy savings!
