Our unit is a atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit. During electrodialysis, demulsifiers and desalting agents are injected alternately. Why is that? Doesn’t the absence of demulsifier injection have any impact on the desalination effect? And what is the principle behind the use of desalting agents?
I don’t understand it. I think desalination refers to the metal decalcification agents given a unified name by Sinopec; its principle is to use methods such as complexation or neutralization and displacement to convert metal ions like calcium and iron present in oil-soluble salts such as calcium naphthenate and porphyrin iron into water-soluble salts or precipitates, thereby removing them. But a very important component in this process is the demulsifier; without it, oil and water cannot be separated, so how can the metal ions be extracted? Generally, in Sinopec’s plants, descaling agents and demulsifiers are also added simultaneously before the mixer, and after being mixed together they enter the electric field.

We only add demulsifiers, introducing them at the inlet of the raw material pump in the tank area; for dehydration purposes, the supply of demulsifiers must not be stopped.
