Recently, there is a need to carry out a 108*5 pipeline crossing project with a length of 340 meters, spanning a still body of water; if a detour is taken, the distance will increase by 2 kilometers. Party A requests that we weld it directly and then place it in water. I would like to ask for an economical and safe construction method (Party A is a private company aiming to save costs). Put it in water right after direct welding? This approach is not advisable; at least I would not agree to do it when designing. If a span needs to be crossed, pilings can be used or cable-stays can be employed. Based on experience, a support should be installed every 6 to 8 meters for 4-inch pipes; of course, the spacing between supports must be determined through detailed calculations taking into account the properties of the pipe material and the characteristics of the fluid being transported. In addition, external loads such as temperature changes and wind loads also need to be considered. Or should we consider doing a time travel? The cost of using the caisson method for direct burial is not very high either; it’s simple as long as it’s still water

Stagnant water? Drain the water, dig at the bottom of the pool, lay the pipes directly in the trench, and make sure to apply adequate anti-corrosion treatment. Then bury it.
