Why do centrifugal pumps of the same model have different shaft sleeve shapes – are there various types? :L
Depending on the choice of mechanical seal, as well as the size and positioning of the shaft sleeve, its shape will vary!
For pumps of the same model that are not produced by the same manufacturer, there’s no need to say anything about this. There are thousands of pump manufacturers in China; one company copies another’s designs, and vice versa. But for certain reasons, modifications are made – the impeller cannot be changed, but the shaft sleeve can be adjusted, made longer or shorter; it doesn’t matter. If it’s the same manufacturer, as mentioned above, if the medium is different, different seals will be used, and the shaft sleeves may also differ.
The shaft sleeve is primarily determined by the type of sealing structure. There is one shaft sleeve for each sealing structure, but seal manufacturers are now also considering the versatility of seals. But different manufacturers use different sizes as well.
Even for the same model but from different manufacturers, with different media being transported and different sealing types used, the shaft sleeves will vary.
All the drawings are from the same source; they all belong to Shen Pump. However, after receiving the drawings, each pump manufacturer made its own modifications. If it’s 1 mm short, you won’t be able to install it. Then you have to buy their accessories.
This answer is the most correct. Pumps of the same manufacturer and model can still differ from each other; mechanical seals are selected based on the medium to be transported, while shaft sleeves are designed in accordance with those mechanical seals. As far as I know for the Alfa Laval brand, the size of the shafts is the same, so the mechanical seals for most of its models are also the same
The standards are chaotic these days; it’s normal for them to vary. As long as there is an organic seal, that’s sufficient
