I would like to ask about the method of extracting water from a solution using solvents
Dehydration can be achieved through extraction using saturated salt solutions. Sodium chloride is used at low concentrations primarily to increase the ionic strength of the aqueous phase, thereby making it easier for the components to be extracted to the organic phase. At high concentration levels (saturated saline solution), it mainly alters the density of the aqueous phase, allowing the organic phase that is readily miscible with water to separate out, thereby facilitating the extraction and dehydration of the components.
I wonder if you have come across extractive distillation? The extractant most commonly used is ethylene glycol, and its advantage is that it can be easily separated from water due to the large difference in their boiling points. There are also those with benzene added, but benzene is highly toxic, so its use is decreasing increasingly. It is mainly related to other components in your solution; when selecting an extractant, it is essential to balance the relationships between these various components! !
