★The definition of a podium building is as follows: A podium building refers to an auxiliary structure connected to a high-rise building, with a construction height of no more than 24 meters. ★I have a question: I have a project involving a high-rise building with 21+2 floors. Among them, the buildings on floors 1 to 4 have the same size. The floor area is the same from the 5th to the 12th floor. The floor area from floor 13 to floor 21 is the same. In other words, my building is divided into 3 floors. And the building area decreases at 3 levels. A podium is a building that is less than 24 meters in height and connected to a high-rise building (2.0.1); if it is over 24 meters tall, it shall be designed in accordance with the regulations for high-rise buildings (explanations to clause 2.0.1). 2. Clause 1.0.3 states that the High-Rise Building Code applies to podiums as well. 24 meters for the podium is a dividing line; it determines the requirements for architectural design, not fire safety requirements. However, the fire protection requirements for the podium must be designed in accordance with the high-rise building codes. We once discussed this matter with the professor. A podium building refers to an attached structure that is connected to the main building, with a height of less than 24 meters; it is essentially an additional building. The floors you mentioned, 1 to 4, should belong to the main building and not be considered part of the podium building. Of course, if a significant portion of the area on those floors (more than in buildings with 5 or more floors) is used for areas such as lobbies and other auxiliary structures, then that portion would be considered part of the podium building. A podium is an auxiliary building that does not exceed 24 meters in height. The poster said that floors 1-4 are the main building, not auxiliary structures, so I don’t think it’s a podium building.
