Currently, HAZOP analysis is being actively carried out in China. I wonder what the level of HAZOP analysis is at CNPC, Sinopec, and CNOOC Has the HAZOP analysis been written into the relevant documents? I wonder if anyone knows about these. Could we discuss it?
HAZOP analysis is being gradually carried out in China, and some of Sinopec’s major design institutes are also engaged in it.
Could you explain in detail what those design institutes are working on? Qingdao Institute of Safety Engineering? East China Institute? Also, does CNOOC have its own HAZOP research unit?
HAZOP analysis has been widely used by large engineering companies abroad. However, HAZOP reports are generally not prepared by the engineering company itself; instead, such companies entrust third-party specialized firms to prepare the HAZOP reports, with the engineering company providing support in that process. In principle, for the same type of chemical processing unit, once the HAZOP analysis report is completed, it can be used as a reference for other units of the same type. The differences in conclusions are mainly due to variations in layout, but since the properties of the materials and the operating conditions remain the same, there is no need to conduct HAZOP analyses on each individual unit. Domestic design firms have begun to incorporate the conclusions from such reports into their designs. If it’s to be done, it would have to be by a third party; there are three such companies in China, I think they are in Shanghai, Hefei, and Zhejiang University of Technology. There are also some large chemical companies that do not prepare HAZOP analysis reports; instead, they use LOPA analysis to produce reports that serve the same purpose as HAZOP reports. It’s just that different analysis methods are employed, but the goal remains the same.
