The control angle α is the lag angle during phase control; it represents the electrical angle from the intersection point of the phase voltages in the case of no phase control (the natural commutation point) up to the moment when commutation begins. The α angle for the normal operation of a rectifier device is generally between 5 and 25 degrees. The function of a rectifying transformer is equivalent to that of a transformer combined with a rectifier; it has the same voltage levels as a transformer, and its control angle is set according to the settings of the rectifier.
I have another question. Is there any difference between the rectifiers for unipolar cells and those for bipolar cells? What is that difference? I’ve just started working here, and are there any other aspects of rectification that I need to pay more attention to?
