The wastewater treatment in my workplace relies on oil removal followed by filtration. However, the water coming out of the oil removal tank is yellow in color; its color does change after filtration, but it remains quite yellow when it reaches the injection wells. What could be the cause of this, and are there any effective solutions?

Strictly speaking, this statement is incorrect, because ferric ions generally exist in the form of iron hydroxide in water with a pH greater than 4, and it is unlikely that they will cause wastewater to turn yellow; however, this may happen in acidic water.
It can’t be sulfur-containing, right? It may contain more iron ions.
