What impurities are produced in lubricating oil production and what methods can be used to remove them.
Lubricating oil contains a small amount of impurities such as colloids, asphaltene, cyclic acid, compounds of oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and trace amounts of solvents. It can be removed by clay refining or hydrogenation supplementary refining. Clay refining is a physical adsorption process. Most of the non-ideal components remaining in the lubricating oil are polar substances. Activated clay has a strong adsorption capacity for them but a weak adsorption capacity for ideal components. Therefore, these impurities can be removed more effectively.
I agree with the point above. I would like to add that solid impurities can be removed with a filter. Secondary filters are commonly used.……
