Detection of flammable gases in confined spaces

As the title suggests, I’m facing a problem: a dead-end section has been installed on the flowing water pipe, and another gas (such as nitrogen) is injected above the pipe. When there is natural gas in the water pipe, this gas enters the closed dead-end section. How can I determine whether there is natural gas inside that dead-end section?
A relatively simple solution is to make holes in the pipe, install a combustible gas detection device along with a switch for alarm – that’s it. For imported versions, it should cost around 10,000–20,000 to get one.
