I would like to know what the cost is approximately for using reverse osmosis to remove salt from water How is this usually calculated?
It’s not possible to simply state a specific amount, as the pollutant concentrations before and after treatment need to be taken into account. If the required treatment efficiency is low or the salt content in the raw water is low, then the cost of treatment will be relatively lower, and the difficulty of treatment will also decrease. Other factors need to be considered as well. Generally, when calculating costs, aspects such as operation time, electricity costs, the lifespan of the equipment, the lifespan of the reverse osmosis membranes, costs related to chemicals, and labor costs should all be taken into account. Additionally, benefits must also be considered: where the treated water will go, whether it’s possible to save water and reduce consumption, and whether it’s possible to reuse the water thereby using less fresh water.
