Discussion on safety goggles: lol :victory: As the title suggests, let’s discuss 1. Under what circumstances should goggles be worn? Please share your thoughts ? 2. Which type of protective glasses are effective? Which company has good product quality? (Not an ad)
Safety goggles must be worn at all times when entering the device, just like a helmet. UVEX’s safety goggles are also okay.
Protective goggles should be worn in any work environment or process that may cause damage to the eyes. This applies to activities such as welding, handling corrosive liquids, and situations where there is a high risk of eye irritation. In our company, there was an incident where sulfuric acid splashed into someone’s eyes during pipe disassembly, resulting in disability – this happened because the required protective mask was not worn properly
Protective goggles are quite common among the mechanical workers in our company; operators wear them during major equipment maintenance tasks. Protective glasses for different types of work are determined based on actual needs, and they are not all the same. I’m not quite sure about the specific brand.
Protective eye gear should also be worn when using power tools. Such as: electric drill, electric hammer, hand grinder, cutting distance, etc
Guidelines for using protective glasses: Particles and debris, sparks and heat streams, bright lights, and smoke can all cause damage to the eyes. Thus, protective glasses must be selected and used according to the different objects being protected. (1) There are three types of impact-resistant goggles: ① Goggles with rigid glass lenses ; ②Glue-bonded plexiglass goggles (crack when impacted or struck, with no splashing) ; ③Wire mesh goggles. They can protect the eyes from impacts caused by flying debris such as metal fragments or shavings, dust, gravel, and concrete chips. Metal cutting tasks, concrete chiseling tasks, and work with hand-held grinders are suitable for wearing such plain safety goggles. (2) UV-protective goggles and radiation-blocking face shields for protection against ultraviolet rays and strong light. The radiation-proof mask used for welding work should be made of non-conductive material, and the viewing window, filter, and protective cover should have matching dimensions with no gaps. The color of the goggles should be a mixed shade; blue, green, and gray are good choices. (3) Goggles for protecting against harmful liquids are primarily used to prevent eye damage caused by liquids such as acids and alkalis, as well as other hazardous substances and chemicals. Ordinary lenses are made of standard glass, while frame materials are made from non-metallic, corrosion-resistant materials. (4) Goggles made of lead glass, which contains a certain amount of lead metal, are used primarily to prevent X-rays from causing damage to the eyes. (5) Protective goggles that shield against dust, smoke, and various mildly toxic or less irritating toxic gases must be airtight, have sealed edges without any ventilation holes, fit tightly against the face, and whose frames are resistant to acids and alkalis.

Here, we mainly use goggles designed to protect against organic liquids; currently we’re using those from 3M, and they seem to work well.
