Types and characteristics of drying equipment To date, hundreds of types of drying equipment have been developed, with over a hundred of them being commonly used in industrial production. There are also various methods for classifying drying equipment. Based on the heat transfer mechanism during the drying process, they can be divided into convective dryers (such as air-flow dryers, spray dryers, rotary drum dryers, fluidized bed dryers, etc.), conductive heat transfer dryers (such as rake dryers, roller dryers), and radiant dryers (such as microwave dryers, far-infrared dryers). In addition, there are also drying equipment that combines several heat transfer methods, such as paddle dryers. The vast majority of dryers are custom-made devices, mainly because each dryer is used to process different materials, and many drying conditions change depending on the material, which in turn leads to variations in the structure and materials of the dryers. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the specific parameters of the material to be dried, such as its state, the type of moisture it contains, the processing volume, the properties of the material during drying, whether it is corrosive or flammable and explosive, whether static electricity is generated, the specific requirements for the product, and the temperature at which the material becomes thermally sensitive. Only by knowing these details can the various parameters of the dryer be determined. For this reason, many dryers cannot be produced in bulk; during the design process, it is necessary to pay attention to the suitability for the materials and the adaptability to working conditions.
