The instrument compensation wire is designed to be 1000 meters long, but 200 meters worth of it was purchased in 5 bundles. Can joints be used to connect these wires?
It is generally not permitted. Since it has been purchased, it is recommended to weld it firmly in place and take proper protective measures. Use it for now; otherwise the boss will criticize us: lol
The wires are all continuous from one end to the other; they can’t be connected in segments! I can’t understand what the person above said!
I don’t think it will work; since there are connections in between, a part of it will be exposed to the outside, and thus the purpose of extending the cold junctions to a control room with a constant temperature won’t be achieved.
May I ask the original poster: is the 1000-meter compensation cable used for connecting one thermocouple? If it’s about wiring a thermocouple, I agree with what was said above. If a junction box is added in between, it can still be used more or less. Five junction boxes need to be connected. If five thermocouples are wired, with 200 meters per one, then five bundles should be fine. It is recommended to check the drawings to see how the cable lengths are specified in the cable table.
Theoretically, the signal will attenuate when the junction boxes are connected. If the requirements aren’t very strict, they can be soldered together with proper rain protection measures in place.:lol
Compensation wires generally should not have intermediate joints (especially in newly installed systems); if joints are necessary, welding or crimping should be used, making sure that the positive and negative poles are not connected incorrectly.
