How can the leakage of slurry from the barrel of a rod mill equipped with manganese steel linings be completely resolved?
There’s no way to cure it completely; strengthen the inspections, and if anything is missed, stop immediately!!
Should that one be tightened tightly, or should everything be tightened? Will there be a power outage during peak times?
A long-standing problem: bolts that are welded in place tend to break under alternating loads. If they aren’t welded, the bolts can become loose, so they need to be tightened regularly. What’s needed now is a good method to increase the duration of each operation of the rod mill
Currently, there is no known cure; it is tightened whenever leakage occurs. Generally, the leakage is severe during startup and shutdown; once the machine is operating stably, the leakage decreases due to the centrifugal force inside the mill and the viscosity of the coal slurry. Minor leaks are usually left unaddressed, while large leaks require the mill to be stopped for tightening. When tightening, the adjacent bolts should also be checked; therefore, only the main motor is powered off, while the auxiliary turning motor remains powered on to enable the mill to be rotated during bolt tightening. However, when cranking is not in use, to prevent accidental rotation that could cause injury, the main shaft and the cranking motor can be separated; they are connected again when cranking is required
