I would like to ask my colleagues: are the flanges built into the equipment all concave?
Not necessarily; if it is a pressure equipment, it might use raised and recessed flange connections, but this is not the case for equipment under normal pressure!
If the flanges of pressure vessels are connected using male and female flanges, the female flange is generally used. But it can also be customized according to the manufacturer’s requirements (to meet design and safety standards). You can also ask the manufacturer to include the matching flanges! In this way, there is no issue with mismatched flanges.
To facilitate assembly, interfaces that face upward are made concave, while those on the sides and facing downward are made convex. However, when connected to valves, it is usually convex, as valves are generally concave; but it is also possible to request the valve manufacturer to produce it according to specific requirements.
It is known that the flanges at the openings of spherical tanks must have male and female surfaces; either have the manufacturer produce matching flanges, or pay special attention to the material selection when ordering them – just count them to ensure this

I agree with what was said on the 4th floor. It should be added that when the nominal pressure rating is 4.0 MPa or higher, the connection surface of the valve flange is concave, while for ratings below 4.0 MPa, it is usually RF-shaped.

Under normal circumstances, the flange face faces downward, with the convex side used in that area and the concave side elsewhere; this arrangement facilitates the installation of gaskets.
It depends on the needs; a surface with uneven contours provides better sealing. As for the view from the 7th floor, if it relates to pipes, that’s one way to put it; but if the equipment already comes with flanges, then it’s not necessarily the case. Equipment below 4.0 MPa comes with flanges, and concave surfaces are also commonly used.
When concave-convex flanges are used on ordinary containers, concave flanges are generally employed on the equipment, with the aim of preventing damage to the sealing surface of the equipment’s flanges during transportation.
