How is centering done when installing chemical pumps?
It is generally aligned using the back wheel; all sides of this wheel should be parallel to each other. After alignment, the crankshaft should rotate smoothly when turned by hand, allowing for a test run in short intervals!
Small pumps are generally mounted on the same frame as the motor, which is better for alignment. For large pumps, the pump body is usually installed first; after alignment and leveling, the motor is installed by aligning it with the coupling on the pump body. Based on the radial and axial deviations of the two couplings, they are within the acceptable range for this equipment.
The approach we adopt is to connect the pipes first and then fix the pump

This is work done by a fitter; I’ve seen fiters align things, using their tools for that purpose – rulers and gauges are all used, but I didn’t quite understand it well.
After installation, alignment is carried out using a dial indicator; the value indicated by the pointer of the dial indicator as the coupling rotates is used to make adjustments by placing a copper plate under the motor.
