Isn’t a box furnace also a vertical furnace? Box furnaces are square in shape, while vertical furnaces include both box types and cylindrical types.
Why is it different from what I read in the book?
Before designing a heating furnace, the heat load required for it is calculated based on the inlet and outlet temperatures of the furnace as well as the processing volume. To ensure that the furnace can adequately cope with changes in the processing volume, the designed heat load is usually set at 1.15 times the calculated heat load. Which type of furnace should be used for a heating furnace with a certain heat load depends on many factors, making it difficult to arrive at a definite conclusion; the data below represent only general situations. ①Cylindrical furnace: For heat loads less than 34.89 MW (1.256×105 MJ/h), a hollow cylindrical furnace without tubes in the middle can be used ; For heat loads equal to or greater than 34.89 MW (1.256×105 MJ/h), heating furnaces with intermediate exhaust pipes can be used; currently, the largest cylindrical furnace in China has a capacity of 52.33 MW (1.8841×105 MJ/h). ②Vertical tube vertical furnace: A heating furnace with a heat load of 34.89 MW (1.256×105 MJ/h) or higher. ③Horizontal tube vertical furnace: A heating furnace with harsh operating conditions or a tendency to coking, operating at a heat load of 29.076 MW (1.0467×105 MJ/h) or less.
