Treatment of cyanide-containing wastewater

Recently, an experiment was conducted on a cyanide-containing wastewater with a CN- concentration of about 300 mg/L; the removal rate using the ZnFe(CN)6 chemical precipitation method was only 20%, and the process was carried out at room temperature. When treated using the SO2—O2 air method (i.e., the Inco method), the removal rate is also only 40%; whereas according to literature, the removal rate for both of these methods is over 95%. Multiple attempts at improvement have not yielded satisfactory results; I would be extremely grateful if someone who is well-versed in this method could offer some guidance.

The best method for breaking down cyanide is oxidation, but attention must be paid to the pH value. The oxidation method for removing cyanide generally achieves the best results under alkaline conditions.
It is recommended that the poster check whether the pH level is appropriate, as the effect is highly dependent on pH. For effective cyanide destruction, the use of NaClO for oxidation is recommended; however, it requires strict control of pH levels.
