As the main valve moves from fully closed to fully open, the medium continuously flows in through the inlet of the valve body, overcomes the force of the spring, and flows out through the main outlet on the valve cover; at the same time, the rise of the valve disc causes the left end of the lever to rise as well. According to the principle of levers, the right end of the lever moves downward, causing the needle valve to descend under the effect of its own weight and the force of the medium. When the main valve is fully open, the needle valve is fully closed, closing flow channel B. The pressure difference generated between chambers D and C causes the throttle piston to move to the right, thereby closing flow channel A and stopping the bypass backflow. When the main outlet pressure exceeds the rated value, due to the change in the pressure difference across the inlet and outlet of the main valve as well as the action of the spring, the valve disc moves from top to bottom until it is closed. This movement also causes the left end of the lever to drop while the right end rises, thereby opening the needle valve and allowing flow through channel B. The medium in chamber D flows through channel B to the bypass outlet. Since the force in chamber C of the throttle piston is greater than that in chamber D, the throttle piston moves to the left, opening channel A. At this time, the medium passes through channel A, is depressurized via multiple stages of alternating spiral grooves, and then returns to the inlet of the high-pressure centrifugal water pump, ensuring its proper operation.
