The inlet pressure of the gas holder is 0.005 MPa, and the outlet pressure is 0.003 MPa. Is water used to control the height during normal operation? If the pressure in front of the water seal increases due to attempts to control its height, isn’t it very dangerous if no water is added to maintain that height?
We use the coke oven gas to produce methanol; in my opinion, installing a water seal at the inlet of the gas tank is intended to prevent backpressure of coke oven gas in the tank when the coking blower stops operating. A slight pressure difference in the water seal has little impact on the coking fan.
I believe the water seal at the inlet of the gas holder is used to isolate the gas from the coking and methanol systems during shutdowns for maintenance. In production, the liquid level is generally not controlled; it’s not necessary.
I’m not sure whether you’re referring to the water seal in the gas holder or those at the inlet and outlet. The liquid level of both types of seals needs to be controlled. For the water seal in the gas holder, this level should be adjusted according to the pressure of the gas inside the high-pressure gas holder. In your case, it’s sufficient if the water level in the seal is above 50 MM. As for the seals at the inlet and outlet, it depends on their design. If they are vertical barrel-shaped seals installed directly on the inlet and outlet pipes, the liquid level must remain low during operation; otherwise, the water will block the gas and prevent it from reaching the compressor. If the inlet pipeline uses U-shaped tubes for sealing, then only the liquid level in the bottom drain seal needs to be controlled, and it’s sufficient if this level is above the gas pressure.
