In recent years, China’s coal chemical industry has developed at a rapid pace, with policies being continuously improved. New types of coal chemicals have been integrated with energy and chemical technologies, giving rise to an emerging industry that combines coal utilization with energy and chemical production. However, the development of coal chemical industry in our country is currently overheated, with low-level repetitive construction. Without considering environmental capacity, ecological balance, carbon dioxide emissions, or resource consumption, there is a blind expansion of production capacity for various coal chemical products, resulting in a crisis of overcapacity in this sector. Coupled with the worsening financial crisis, the cost pressures on China’s coal chemical industry have increased, leading to a slowdown in its development. In order to properly determine the development direction of the coal chemical industry and promote its growth in a scientific and sustainable manner, China Chemical Industry News and Sinochem New Network, as authoritative media in China’s petroleum and chemical sector, were commissioned by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association to launch and organize the large-scale campaign \"Scientific Development of Coal Chemistry – A Visit to×××\" in 2009. The first stop of this campaign was Ningxia. This summit forum is jointly organized by the Development and Reform Commission of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the Ningdong Office, the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and China Chemical News. The forum will invite many well-known experts and scholars from the coal chemical industry to give presentations and hold discussions on industry-related hot topics such as coal chemical industry policies, development strategies for the coal chemical sector, strategic environmental assessments for coal chemical projects, technical and economic analyses of coal-to-oil projects, the application of large-scale gasification technologies, innovations in integrated coal chemical production technologies, as well as investment opportunities and risks in the coal chemical industry. The Summit Forum on the Development Strategy of Coal Chemical Industry will be held at the end of March; it should be in Shenzhen. A colleague from our company said we need to go to Shenzhen for the meeting.

Reference: From April 20 to 21, 2009, the International Energy Frontier Forum with the theme of “Carbon Conversion” was held in Langfang, Hebei. It aimed to promote the development of the energy industry through in-depth discussions on energy technology research and application, as well as to foster harmonious development between energy and the climate.
