Similarly, what category are the weld joints used to weld the internal components of the tower to the shell classified as?
What is the basis for the division? The fillet welds that join the reinforcement ring to the cylinder at 150 are classified as Category D; I think it’s appropriate to classify them as such. Besides, there is no Category E anyway – one can’t create such a category on their own

The issue is the inner component, not the reinforcement ring; it shouldn’t be classified in that category
The weld between the reinforcement ring and the cylinder is a fillet weld; isn’t this similar to the weld between the internal component and the cylinder? What if the gasket is welded to the cylinder? It’s the same principle in all cases; the basis for classification should be the type of welding joint, rather than categorizing items differently just because of their different names. In any case, a Category E is definitely unreasonable. It’s clearly stated in 150 that there are four categories: A, B, C, and D – so how can there be a Category E?
It should be a regular weld; there is no need to assign a weld number, and standard welding procedures apply.
It does not fall into the ABCD category, and no non-destructive testing is required; welding it according to the standard process is sufficient
ABCD are all pressure-bearing welds; the internal components are by no means pressure-bearing elements. Agree to classify the weld as Class E, just for fun.
