The tower exhaust emission system should be equipped with a water seal tank. After the condenser, a U-shaped water seal tube is required to ensure gas-liquid separation. What other occasions require a water seal? What type of water seal is needed? I would appreciate your advice.
I have made CO water seals, some open and some closed. The water seal of large pipes can also be used as a shut-off valve.

There are also other areas where leakage needs to be prevented; among those I’m familiar with are the rising pipes of coke ovens and the feed inlets for dry quenching of coke. Since a slight positive pressure exists in these areas, a liquid level of 10–20 mm is sufficient.
Anaerobic digestion reactors sometimes also have water seals to prevent oxygen from entering.

If the operating pressure of the equipment is slightly higher than atmospheric pressure, a water seal must be installed for venting or discharge. This can be achieved using a water seal tank or a U-tube; both serve to maintain stable pressure inside the equipment. Additionally, the U-tube helps to keep a certain liquid level in place – in other words, the liquid level inside the equipment will not rise above the highest point of the U-tube.
