It should not be prone to clogging, whether in the heat exchanger or in the benzene washing tower. The main substance that causes clogging is naphthalene; when the temperature drops below the dew point of naphthalene, it cools and solidifies, adhering to the packing or the inner walls of the heat exchanger, thereby reducing the channel area and lowering the efficiency of heat and mass transfer, which in turn exacerbates the clogging problem. Therefore, temperature control during operation is very important; it is necessary to keep it as constant as possible and minimize fluctuations. As the poster mentioned, there is very little naphthalene in low-oil conditions, so normal operation generally does not lead to clogging problems.
Generally, crude benzene oil-poor coolers are not prone to clogging, unless the oil washing and regeneration process is ineffective, the content of naphthalene is high, and the cooling temperature is low, resulting in the precipitation of naphthalene and subsequent blockage of the heat exchanger.
