What conditions are required for oil-free lubrication, in what operating conditions is it used, and what materials are needed?
Oil-free lubrication requires the use of self-lubricating materials, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, for the compressor’s support rings and piston rings; the excellent self-lubricating properties of these materials help to reduce friction between the compressor piston and the cylinder. The media compressed by such compressors are oil-free media, such as compressed air used in food processing and compressed oxygen used in industrial production.
The oil-free lubrication steel sleeve is a special material [pre-wetted steel sleeve]; the piston rings are made of copper and tetrafluoroethylene, and good external cooling is required.
Oil-free lubrication is generally used in the packing seals of compressor piston rods, with materials typically including polytetrafluoroethylene, silicon carbide, and graphite.
Another type of self-lubricating material is steel saturated with oil; when in use and the temperature rises, the oil seeps out of the pores in the steel, and once operation stops, the oil returns automatically into those pores
