I need to connect the 300XP controller from Siemens to a Siemens 300 PLC, and it seems that the Simatic Net software is required for this. Has anyone here used it? Could you share your experience? Is it possible to do without Simatic Net? I noticed that in Step 7 V5.4, it’s possible to configure the OPC functions of the PLC. Can’t we just program using Step 7 V5.4 directly?
Method of connecting the Zhongkong JX-300XP to Siemens S7-300: 1. Install an XP-239DP Profibus DP communication card in the 300Xp; the 300Xp acts as the master station and connects to the S7-300 via the Profibus DP link. 2. Instead of using Zhongkong’s own Advantrol Pro software, the 300Xp uses the SupView software. Although SupView is also a logo for the central control unit, it is actually an OEM product of iFix. Although only the IJX driver from the central control unit was used, in reality, drivers that meet the iFix standard such as the S7 driver, SI7, SIX, and others can also be used with SupView. In this way, connecting SupView to an S7 CPU is just like connecting it to one’s own 300Xp. 3. Use OPC communication. An additional OPC Server must be installed. Siemens’ own OPC Server is Simaticnet. Advantrol Pro acts as the OPC Client, allowing access to SimaticNet and thereby indirect access to the S7 systems. Simaticnet is essential. In Step 7, it is possible to configure a PC Station or insert an OPC Server, but Simaticnet is required. You must configure the PC Station in Step7, and then configure the Station Config in SimaticNet. The order of the 2 configurations must be exactly the same for you to be able to perform a “download” operation on the PC Station. Only after the download is completed can SimaticNet communicate with the S7.
