I’m a newcomer and going for the first time; I would like to ask everyone: are the classes and exams for Category D and Category A separate? The content of the exam should be different, right? What topics are mainly covered in Category D? What books to read? What are the types of questions in the exam? For a newcomer like me, is it 100% impossible to succeed?
For Class D, there are standards such as GB150, GB151, the Code for Pressure Vessels, tower-type vessels, horizontal vessels, mixing vessels, and various components； Last year, the question types in the Category D theory exam included true/false questions, multiple-choice questions, and essay questions ； The types of vessels to be inspected are one each for horizontal vessels, heat exchangers, tower vessels, and mixing vessels.
Is there also drawing review? I don’t have any qualifications in this field. At first, my supervisor said I just needed to go for training and learn the basics; but now they say since I’m there, I should take an exam. It’s really frustrating!

It is random drawing of questions; students in categories A and D have their classes and exams at the same time, except that there are a few questions that students in category D do not need to answer. It’s rare to have the opportunity for training; usually, only those in large design firms with sufficient experience get the chance to take the examination. The exams mainly cover GB150 and code-related content; if it’s within the industry you work in, there should be nothing that’s too difficult to handle.
