On industrial online monitoring

I study online monitoring; at that time, my main focus was on the development of methods for online monitoring. Now that I’ve graduated, I’ve joined a design firm, and the work here is not really related to what I used to do. So half of the knowledge I use now is something I’ve learned on the job, while the other half comes from my skills acquired during my undergraduate studies. I’m thinking, could I apply the professional knowledge of online monitoring that I’ve learned to actual industrial production? My ideal role is to: first, help people solve technical problems in industrial production ； Second, conduct monitoring of environmental indicators ； Third, timely feedback on process information. I believe the purpose of online monitoring is to increase product yield, reduce the occurrence of side reactions, lower costs, and improve efficiency. The main monitoring indicators are as follows: 1. Precise control of the amount of material added, which specifically refers to precise control of the flow rate, in order to ensure the optimal ratio of materials ； 2. Control and monitoring of liquid level height ； 3. Control and monitoring of reaction temperature ； 4. Monitoring and control of reaction pressure ； 5. Monitoring and control of the pH value of the reaction solution ； 6. Online monitoring and analysis of the components of the reaction materials as well as those of the output products. Different products have varying control requirements, and the level of difficulty in controlling them also differs. Online monitoring involves a wide range of knowledge areas. To work in research and development in this field, one needs to possess knowledge in various domains such as electronics (low-voltage systems), chemical instrumentation, chemical processes, chemical analysis, chemical machinery, and computers; therefore, it is an interdisciplinary field that requires integrated skills from multiple specialties. There are now online testing instruments that allow for remote monitoring as well.
Online testing instruments generally possess the capability for remote transmission and control, but in industrial production this function is usually disabled, as it is too vulnerable to attacks. It is generally under centralized control and management. Regarding the original poster’s remarks, I’m deeply disappointed; after working on-site for twenty years, who would still dare to talk about R&D issues? To fly high, one must have a solid foundation.
