If the design pressure of a tower is 1.0MPa and the design temperature is 80 degrees, is it feasible to use 1.0MPa steam as the purge medium for the tower? During steam purging, the steam temperature should be above 200 degrees. If the steam pressure is controlled to be lower, it should be at least 160-180 degrees. In this way, the temperature during steam purging exceeds the design temperature.
Steam purging can be used, but strength calculations must be made. One thing is for sure, only steam below 1.0MPa can be used.
Since the design temperature is lower than the purge temperature, please do not use super-temperature steam. For example, gaskets, equipment expansion, etc. are not designed for such a temperature. Since the design temperature is 80 degrees, the temperature needs to be raised to 200 degrees. If the pressure remains unchanged, it is unlikely. Do not use it.
Your design temperature is only 80 degrees, but if you use steam far exceeding this temperature, your pipeline will almost be scrapped, and the most terrible thing may be an accident.
