How to determine the compression amount for the seal of a cantilever pump! ! !
It is best to follow the requirements outlined in the instructions for the seal being used
What sealing? Generally, just follow the requirements for that seal! Generally, for small springs it’s 4-6 MM, while for large springs it’s 1/3 of the spring’s height! 2.5-4.5MM for the bellows is sufficient! Determine the compression amount by using the joint surface between the bearing housing and the cover as the reference plane. Measure the distances from the working positions of the rotating and stationary rings on the shaft to this reference plane, and the difference between these two distances represents the compression amount. A compression amount can exist only if the distance from the moving ring to the positioning surface is greater than the distance from the stationary ring to the positioning surface.
It is generally determined based on the instructions or experience; for example, the compression amount for mechanical seals with large springs is usually around 1/3, while those with small springs or bellows require less compression, typically around 3–5 mm.
The compression amount is calculated by taking the free height of the stationary and rotating rings of the mechanical seal and subtracting the length of the compression space
I have some objections to the figure for floor 4; I think it should be around 1/2 to 2/3, for the large springs.
The degree of compression should be a matter of experience, to be determined based on actual conditions. . . . . . . .
