I would like to ask fellow maritime professionals: Is it necessary to install stop buttons for the blowers and exhaust fans in a refinery’s waste heat recovery system in the control room (what DCS system is used – soft start)?； Direct button – Hard start)
This is usually included in the design, but I think it’s better to start it on-site. Because when controlling it via DCS, if there are problems with the system, it’s not possible to know what’s going on on-site, which can create the illusion that the machine has been started, leading to unnecessary complications. So it’s better to start it on-site. For reference only

Generally speaking, for safety reasons, the operating equipment can be stopped via the central control system, but starting it requires on-site operation; this is just a small suggestion for reference only

I’m not sure what the standards and regulations require: from a practical standpoint on site, it’s not really necessary at all; at most, five points would be sufficient. . . :o
