Colleagues who have written papers on equipment, please share your skills for writing such papers – how to write good papers on equipment? Could you talk about your thoughts?
I don’t know either what the specific criteria for a good paper are. When I read a paper, whether I can understand it from a technical perspective or not, if the images are clear and detailed, if the data sources are reliable or have been derived through thorough calculations, and if the logic is coherent with each step building on the previous one, then I feel that the paper is of high quality. Of course, the most important thing is: there must be innovation!
Equipment papers are a type of scientific paper and should possess scientific rigor, originality, logic, and validity. They can be divided into five categories: The first category is argumentative – it involves the discussion and proof of fundamental scientific propositions, or the theoretical analysis of new proposed concepts, principles, models, materials, and processes in order to improve, supplement, or revise them. Those engaged in specialized research write more scientific and technical papers on this topic. The second category is the scientific and technical report type – scientific and technical reports are documents that describe the results or progress of a scientific or technical research project, or the outcomes of technical research trials and evaluations, or that discuss the current status and development of a particular scientific or technical issue. Articles on the feasibility assessment of specialized technologies, engineering solutions, and research plans, namely scientific and technical report-style papers, constitute the majority of modern scientific and technical literature. Those engaged in engineering design and planning write more scientific and technical papers on this topic. The third category is the discovery and invention type – articles that describe the background, phenomena, essence, characteristics of things or events that have been discovered, as well as their patterns of change, and the ways in which humans can make use of such discoveries. Articles that describe the efficacy, performance, characteristics, principles, and usage conditions of invented equipment, systems, tools, materials, processes, formulae, or methods. Those working in construction should write more articles on this topic. The fourth category is design and computational – it involves computer programming to solve certain engineering, technical, and management problems, computer-aided design and optimization of various systems, engineering solutions, and products, as well as computer simulation of certain processes; it also includes the design, modification, and formulation of certain products or materials. Those working on software development, such as for computers, write more scientific papers in this area. The fifth category is the review type – this is a rather special type of scientific paper (such as a literature review). Its main difference from ordinary scientific papers is that it does not require originality in terms of research content. Although a good review article often includes some new information and ideas that have not been published before, it requires the author to, based on a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of existing materials, identify the patterns and trends in the development of a particular field over a specific period of time. There are generally two types of its presentation: one focuses on compiling literature, supplemented by annotations, and is objective with little commentary. The other category focuses on commentary. Through review, observation, and outlook, logical and insightful views and suggestions are put forward. People in management positions write more scientific and technical papers on this topic.
