Every time our conversion furnace is started up, the temperature level varies – sometimes it’s high and sometimes it’s low. Is this due to the catalyst or are there problems inside the furnace?
It is normal for the temperature and bed layer to change every time the machine is operated. There are limitations to any temperature control; it doesn’t make much sense to say that the higher or lower the temperature, the better. Generally speaking, each company has its own production process parameters, and when establishing these parameters, safety in production must be taken into account (what about the impact on the lifespan of the conversion tubes and CATs?) ), the economic aspects of production (raising the temperature to certain levels increases costs, while the increase in conversion rate is minimal. There’s also the process itself – maximizing oxygen utilization is the key – as well as the convenience of production control. The conversion reaction is an endothermic reaction; increasing the reaction temperature is certainly beneficial for the reaction itself, but raising the temperature requires taking the above three factors into consideration.

There is also the factor of catalysts, as each start-up and shutdown affects their activity.
It is likely due to changes in temperature measured by the thermocouple; the actual temperature is normal.
The temperature of the converter changes every time it is operated. In my opinion, it should be related to the conversion load, the water-to-gas ratio, and the amount of oxygen added.
