At present, Yitai has begun producing oil and started trial production. While Shenhua is undergoing shutdown for maintenance, other projects such as Lu’an and Tianji are still under construction.

1. Shenhua Baotou Methanol to Olefins Project includes a 1.8 million tons per year methanol plant, as well as facilities for converting methanol into olefins (MTO), such as a 300,000 tons per year polyethylene plant and a 300,000 tons per year polypropylene plant. 2. China Datang Corporation’s 460,000 tons per year polypropylene project. 3. Shanxi Huayun Coal and Electricity Co., Ltd. is investing in a project to produce 1.2 million tons of methanol and coal-based olefins; this project is located in Fanjiagou Village, Shunhui Township, Lan County, Shanxi Province, and is currently in the phase of attracting investors. The project construction period was from 2007 to 2010, with a total investment of 8.5 billion yuan; currently, the feasibility study report is under approval process. The project involves the production of 1.2 million tons of methanol, 200,000 tons of polyethylene, and 234,000 tons of polypropylene per year. 4. Shenhua Ningmei Group is building a project at the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base to produce 520,000 tons of polypropylene per year; the preliminary work for this project has been completed. 5 The 1.2 million-ton methanol-to-olefins project of Xinwen Mining in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is in the preliminary preparation stage. 6 The 600,000-ton olefin project of Xinjiang Guanghui Industrial Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. has had its feasibility study report prepared. 7. Henan Province: The coal chemical development plan of Yongcheng Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd., along with the project to produce 700,000 tons of olefins per year, involves a total investment of 18.84 billion yuan. The existing methanol production facility with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons is set to have its capacity increased to 2 million tons per year. Additionally, it is planned to expand the range of methanol products, so that ultimately Yongcheng will have an annual production capacity of over 2 million tons of methanol and 700,000 tons of olefins. 8. After reorganizing Huaihua Group, Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Company has made steady progress with the methanol-to-olefins project. The project is located in the northern part of Anhui Province, with a total investment of around 13.3 billion yuan. It will have an annual production capacity of 1.7 million tons of methanol and 520,000 tons of methanol-to-olefins (MTO) products, and preliminary preparation work has already begun. 9. The 600,000-ton methanol project of Shaanxi Yankuang Coal Industry is the first phase of Yankuang Coal Industry’s Yulin Energy and Chemicals Company’s project to produce 2.4 million tons of methanol along with 800,000 tons of olefins. 10. The 3 million-ton coal-based methanol-to-olefins project planned by Shaanxi Xinxing Coal Olefins Co., Ltd. in Yulin, Shaanxi.
