What are the pressure ratings for the pipes and valves used for propylene oxide and ethylene oxide?
The fire hazard classification for ethylene oxide and propylene oxide is Class A; 2.5 MPa should be selected, although 1.6 MPa is also an option for economic reasons.
Which standard specifies this?
In our system, the pressure rating of the flanged valves in the EO pipelines is 2.5 MPa, while that for PO pipelines is 1.6 MPa； The reason might be that EO belongs to Category A, while PO belongs to Category B; therefore, the former has its maximum operating pressure increased by two grades, whereas the latter has it increased by only one grade.
