In a low-temperature methanol wash floating valve column, the floating valves are located below the level of the overflow weir; the advantage of this approach is that it facilitates the recovery of H2S, thereby reducing environmental pollution. During the repeated vacuum regeneration of methanol, the flash vapor containing H2S is repeatedly reabsorbed by methanol, which allows for the concentration of H2S gas. Once the H2S concentration increases, the methanol rich in H2S is heated for regeneration, resulting in H2S gas with a concentration of 30%–35%. This gas is then sent to a Claus unit for sulfur recovery, thereby eliminating the environmental pollution caused by sulfur-containing waste gases
The floating valve is below the height of the overflow weir and is completely submerged in methanol. This facilitates full contact between the gas and the liquid.
The typical opening degree of F1 heavy-duty floating valves is between 2.5 and 8.5 mm; The height of the overflow weir is set at 50-80 mm. So the floating valve will be below the overflow weir.
It must be below the height of the overflow weir; this is necessary to ensure that the liquid covers the float valve and creates a certain liquid layer thickness. When the height of this liquid layer reaches that of the overflow weir, the liquid will overflow! And this is to achieve better gas-liquid contact!
