Hello everyone! I’d like to ask everyone for help? Our wastewater stripping unit uses a double-tower stripping process. About half a month after the ammonia purification section started operating, the tube bundle of the reboiler in the ammonia distillation tower suffered severe corrosion; in fact, the tubes in that bundle corroded and leaked. Can everyone help me find the cause and the correct way to deal with it? Thank you. . . :P
Original poster, please tell us the material of the tubing you’re using; it’s possible that the material is not suitable
It’s impossible to provide an explanation without knowing the material; specifically, it’s necessary to know what flows inside the tube bundle, and the process should be described as well
Send a few photos to take a look; it might be a problem with the material, or the temperature, the medium, etc
The acidic water stripping unit I have installed uses a single-tower pressurized stripping process, with 10# steel heat exchange tubes in the reboiler; under normal conditions, it can operate without issues for about 3 years. The 08Cr2AlMo material was once used, but the results were not satisfactory; it was in use for about three years before switching back to 10# steel. Other sister plants have used 304 tube bundles, and no problems have occurred after 6 years of operation. It is recommended that the original poster upload photos of the acidic water components, the reboiler operating conditions, and the tube bundle corrosion status, so that everyone can conduct a detailed analysis. Under the conditions given at present, it is not possible to analyze the reasons in detail.
