Some time ago, the compressor stopped operating; let’s analyze what could be the cause. At 11 o’clock, pump A in the ammonia tank area (with variable frequency control) suddenly stopped working. Another pump, B (without variable frequency control), was started at that time. An electrical inspection showed that there was no problem with pump A in the afternoon. At 3 p.m., pump A was tried out again, and when load was applied, both pumps A and B stopped operating simultaneously; At the same time, the lubricating oil pump shared by the syngas compressor and the chiller tripped, and the backup pump did not start automatically, resulting in the shutdown of both the syngas compressor and the chiller. Upon checking the power distribution room, it was found that no power was supplied; after resetting the system, the lubricating oil pump could be started again. The electricity supply for the ammonia pump and the lubricating oil pump is not from the same circuit, and none of the other pumps have stopped working
It’s not very clear; it would be best if the original poster could provide a diagram of the power supply system as well as the schematic diagram, including the rated power of the ammonia pump and the lubricating oil pump. Check whether there is a possibility of a shutdown due to process interlocks.
I work on process compressors; the possibility of a shutdown due to process interlocks has been ruled out. There are no electrical schematics or diagrams available, but the ammonia pump and the lubricating oil pump are powered by two separate distribution cabinets. I would like to know what electrical issues could cause the lubricating oil pump to shut down as well, in case the ammonia pump stops operating
