What is a secondary short circuit in a voltage transformer?

The secondary standard voltage of a voltage transformer (abbreviated as PT) is 100 V, and fuses must be installed to prevent short circuits, as such short circuits can damage the voltage transformer.

Secondary short circuit of voltage transformer: 1) Symptoms during secondary short circuit include: a voltage disconnection signal being displayed； The meter indicating its voltage shows a decrease or goes to zero ； The phase indication of the fuse blown on the three-phase voltage meter decreases or becomes zero ； The voltage transformer is making abnormal noises. (2) A secondary short circuit will generate a large short-circuit current in the secondary coil, causing breakdowns in both the primary and secondary circuits as well as erroneous operation of the related protection devices. (3) The treatment method is to remove the secondary fuse and replace it ； After removing the secondary fuse, if the transformer still makes abnormal noises, it indicates that there is a fault inside the transformer. The transformer should be powered off so that its interior can be inspected to identify and resolve the fault.
