Which is more solid, the former chemical engineering machinery major or the current process control major? I personally think that the old chemical processing machinery from the past is more reliable; practical experience has proven this. What do you all think? lol

I studied process control. At the beginning of my studies, the teacher said that it was like a universal solution for various problems. At first I didn’t understand what he meant, but now I realize he was right. Ever since the field shifted from chemical engineering to process control, the teachers focused on process control, while those who stayed in chemical engineering went into marketing. It’s difficult to find a good teacher. So during my studies, I was called over by the teacher frequently. After graduation, my classmates went to pressure vessel manufacturing factories; they didn’t dare to go elsewhere, as their skills were only average. We became too specialized, and I was the only one who ended up working in a chemical plant, where I had to start from scratch. . .
It’s not even a real profession at all. There are people who work in chemical engineering these days, so please don’t try to deceive me by claiming there are no such professionals... I fairly agree with this view; if the curriculum is made less extensive, there will be less time for study. In the past, we spent a whole year studying only descriptive geometry, and now I don’t know how long we’ll have to spend on it
Of course it’s chemical engineering; those who graduated with me in chemical engineering have always performed better than those of us who studied chemical technology. Process control is just a new term – I really don’t see what the difference between it and chemical engineering is.

Let me share my opinion. I majored in process control, and nowadays the courses related to this field are less specialized than they used to be; this is a problem that exists throughout universities. There’s a need for a more comprehensive approach, but with fewer class hours, one can only cover the basics. As for practical training, teachers often tell us about the practical experiences they had during their school days – that was when they really got their hands dirty doing things. Now, our practical training is just a brief overview; we merely get to see the equipment, and companies are also reluctant to go to the extra trouble. In fact, this is a problem existing in the entire education system; vertical comparisons should not be made.
In my opinion, class hours should keep up with the times; today’s universities also need to teach about the market economy
The two majors are similar; it’s basically the same thing with just a different name. For example, in our school, the major in Chemical Engineering Machinery was simply renamed Process Equipment.
It’s just a different name; in many schools, teachers still call it a calculator :)
Was it because the chemical processing machine was used for a long time in the past? Newcomers should not compare themselves to veterans! Don’t underestimate yourself!
