Haha, I think so too – Chemical Engineering is a great major. I’m also majoring in Chemical Engineering, hehe. But I have no idea what kind of work I’ll do in the future. Is the chemical processing industry putting pressure on us? I don’t think that makes much sense; people succeed by working hard. Others simply have greater abilities, and there are many managers in the machinery industry – it’s just that fewer people work in chemical engineering!
If you study chemistry, engineering, or mechanics, many companies hire guys: lol It doesn’t matter what your grades are
One can work as a field engineer in chemical engineering processes; is it possible to do the same in mechanical engineering? Back to floor 6; obviously, anything related to chemical machinery will do. In comparison, the process engineering field is more confined to the chemical industry, while chemical machinery... manufacturing, mechanical and electrical engineering, quality control, chemistry, nuclear power... it’s like an all-purpose field.

Although chemical engineers can go to machinery factories, when such factories recruit employees, they give priority to those with a degree in mechanical engineering. Although chemists can work in various industries, they each have their own specialized fields. For example, there are specialized fields in robotics, and there are dedicated fields in manufacturing. I really don’t like this major that much; even though some control aspects have been added now, I’m still not proficient in it. Apart from pressure vessels and fluid machinery, this major also covers other areas. The others aren’t very precise!

I agree that it’s easier to find employment in the field of chemical engineering machinery compared to chemical engineering; demand for professionals in both fields is high. On the other hand, however, there are fewer schools offering programs in chemical engineering machinery than those offering programs in chemical engineering. You may notice that almost every university offers a chemical engineering program, but there aren’t many universities that have specialized programs in chemical engineering machinery.
Our school only offers the major in Chemical Engineering and Technology; there is no distinction between chemical process engineering and chemical equipment engineering. Although students learn about everything, they don’t delve deep into any particular area, haha
I’m wondering, when a new company is hiring, do they look for more people with skills in manufacturing processes, or more people with expertise in chemical engineering? What job opportunities are there without process chemical engineering machinery?
