What is the main purpose of installing a conductivity meter on the condensate pipeline?
It should be used to measure the conductivity of the condensate; I’m not sure whether the condensate from your system is being recycled.
Of course, it is the conductivity of the condensate that is monitored, as this serves as the basis for either using it directly (if its conductivity is within acceptable limits, it can be used directly as boiler make-up water) or for carrying out appropriate treatment (such as advanced treatment of the condensate).

Condensate is divided into process condensate, steam condensate, and turbine condensate. When desalinated water is produced solely through ion exchange, the condensate is generally recovered by passing it through a precision filter before being fed directly into the mixed-bed reactor. The conductivity of the water fed into the mixed-bed has to meet certain requirements; if it exceeds a specific value, the water cannot be used. Under normal operating conditions, when the condensate is not contaminated, it generally contains no salts and can be fed directly into the desalination unit to produce desalinated water. Under accident conditions (such as heat exchanger leaks), condensate can mix into the circulating water along with other impurities. At this point, it is not possible to go directly into the mixed bed; instead, it is necessary to go through the preceding anion and cation beds first. Installing a conductivity meter is used to monitor the conductivity of the condensate, thereby determining whether the condensate is contaminated and helping to decide how to treat it. The condensate may also be contaminated by oil and COD; the specific situation should be determined based on the process equipment.
I wonder if the original poster has a clear understanding of this basic concept. Conductivity is related to salt content through a conversion factor. In simple terms, other conditions being equal, the higher the conductivity, the higher the salt content. Why is conductivity used to represent salt content? Because in moisture handling, it is difficult to analyze the salt content directly, whereas conductivity is easy to measure. Therefore, conductivity is used to represent the salt content.
Does this conductivity meter need to be special? The condensate temperature is not low. How should it be done? Could you give some instructions?
The condensate temperature is not low. Generally, plate heat exchangers are used in the demineralized water station to cool it down. This is because the resin used in regular wedding beds and split beds is suitable for temperatures of 35-40 degrees. If the condensate temperature is higher than this value, heat exchange cooling is required. A conductivity meter is a monitoring instrument; there are ready-made products available. You can look up the manufacturer’s contact information online and get in touch with them to obtain more detailed information.
In fact, I believe the main function should be to monitor whether there are any leaks in the heat exchange equipment. If there are no leaks, the conductivity of the steam condensate (including that from turbines), being below 10 us/cm, is generally considered acceptable, and it can be recycled back to the boiler system without any treatment.
