Principle of the degassing membrane: A hydrophobic microporous membrane is used; due to its hydrophobic nature, water cannot pass through the micropores while gases can. A vacuum is created on the other side of the membrane, or it is purged with an inert gas such as N2. The gases dissolved in the water pass through the microporous membrane and are removed, thereby reducing the concentration of dissolved gases in the water.
